OUR STORY

In 2019, Powder Monkey Brewing Co was born in a derelict naval gunpowder store in Gosport, UK. Named after young sailors who carried powder aboard warships, it embodied grit and tradition.
Co-founder Andy and head brewer Mark transformed the
abandoned building into a thriving brewery and tasting bar by 2021.

The vision soon crossed hemispheres. Australia’s independent beer culture and adventurous spirit called, leading to Powder Monkey Group in 2023 - a family of Australian craft breweries built on
grain-to-glass independence. At the heart of it all is Powder Monkey Brewery in Camden, near Sydney. Housed in a heritage building, it brews under the same manufacturing license from the 1800s. Here, we celebrate Australia’s agricultural roots and Aussie bush culture. Our tap house honours beer’s timeless heritage and community connection - where diverse backgrounds, stories, and perspectives unite over great beer, because everyone belongs.

From British naval history to Australian rural tradition, Powder Monkey connects two rich heritages through independent craft brewing, genuine community, and the simple truth that great beer brings people together.
